What reading level is Montana Outdoors Vol 9 No 6 Nov/dec 1978 book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
As our class trudged along a faint game trail, a muffled thumping drifted down from the top of a large pine tree riddled with insect borings and woodpecker holes. After shinny- 20/MONTANA OUTDOORS/Nov /Dec. 1978 ing up to the top and positioning myself on a dead snag, I tapped the tree with the butt of my flash- light and then aimed a bright beam into a woodpecker's hole. Suddenly, I heard scurried move- ments and a large pair of eyes with a reddish-orange glaze peered out of the cavity. There ...was a scramble and a shower of miniature hang gliders floated down to neighboring trees. The second observation oc- curred on a summer morning when I tapped a purple martin's birdhouse with the tip of a bam- boo pole. The first tap provoked rustling and a high-pitched twitter. The second sent an arous- ed tenant in a frantic, leaping glide to the base of a nearby Cot- tonwood. The squirrel scrambled up to a patch of shadow where it flattened into what resembled a furrowed piece of Cottonwood bark.
