In winter, Montana's most com- monly taken fish are whitefish, trout and silver salmon but many of the so-called "warm water" fish should not be over-looked in the business of catching and eating. For example, in eastern Montana waters, fishermen usually discard goldeyes which often bite before a hook reaches a depth frequented by perch or sauger.
