Soon after, my chief and I returned home. I cannot say that I passed a tranquil night. After the unexpected revelation to which I had been listening, my mind was so perplexed, and I felt, at the same time, so vexed ; with myself at being the cause of pain to so sweet a girl, that I rose at my usual hour, having had no rest from PRIVATE MEETING.
