Esquimaux children, then, have no claim on the Esquimaux community, for laws requiring such an education ; but they have a claim on their parents and on the community, to do all that their circumstances render possible, towards fitting them for all the rights and privi- leges in that country ; and they have aright to such laws as shall secure to them the enjoyment of Esquimaux freedom, whenever they are fit for it.
