During this expedition, G^ieral Clinton experienced the greateil ailiftance from the navy, wludi was always ready, at the feveral places where the troops em- barked, to give every aid in their power.
No fooner did General Clinton return to New York, than, agreeably to his inftrudions, he fet aboiit giving aid to the army under Lieutenant-General Burgoyne, which he fuppofed were by this time on their way from Lake George, and ap- proaching the Hudfpn's river.
