To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
Exhaustion is due to the toxic poison in the system, and this is due to the chemical changes in the blood, caused by impediment or sluggish circulation, hence the first thing to do is to restore the circulation, and thus oxygen- ate the blood. The best thing to neutralize the toxin is Epsom salts. Make a solution of carbolic acid and glycerine, put this in the solution of one ounce of Epsom salts to a pint of water; use as a gargle every half hour or oftener. There is too much alkalinity in the... blood. A gargle made of sulphuric acid just enough to taste a little sour use as a gargle, by the use of a swab made of ab- sorbent cotton; wet the cotton in the solution, and swab the throat occasionally. This is an excellent means of neutralizing the alkalinity in the blood. Use the solution of the Epsom salts, sugar and water preparation mentioned elsewhere in this book as a con- stitutional antitoxin, in half teaspoonful doses every hour or so, lessening the quantity if the bowels move too freely.
