Thou Christ-man, bom of Mary, Come back again to earth.
Shun not the purple wine-press And the bitter devil's mirth.
They laugh over this red Christmas And the welter of fire and blood ; But thou canst smile for pity And bring from evil good.
Make white again our Christmas All glorious like the snow — The time is for the vision And the red fires bum low.
