He slammed the door shut so hard the car shook. ‘I don’t want to put you out.’ ‘I was going that way, anyhow.’ ‘Well, thanks.’ She started the car forward. ‘Besides, it’s nice to have some company. I haven’t seen many of the kids since the accident.’ ‘Yeah.’ He nodded, staring straight ahead.
