Todd was killed, a Platte county man ; Carroll was killed, a Clay county man; Murray and Phillips escaped, the first shot in the left arm and the second in the right leg, while Holt, a beardless boy, hiding his pistols and his tell-tale shirt, sat steadfast at the table and welcomed the militia as the son of the farmer who was feeding the Guerrillas.
