Is it not an injustice to childhood to require or even to permit these children to try to do work that is impossible for them, only to fail them at the end of the term and make them do the same work over again? To introduce the little child's school career with a failure is very likely to have an undesirable effect on his attitude toward later school life. These children should do work more slowly and succeed, or they should be given other work which they can do.
