The gravity of the oil, the amount of sand the well makes, the quality of sand, that is, whether fine or coarse, the presence of shale or mud and the percentage, if any, of water, all have to be con- sidered. In washing, the oil is pumped cold or hot down the tubing for a period of a half-hour or more, a 3-in. Tee having been previously attached to the bottom of the tubing to force the flow directly against the perforations.
