The reason why we can trace the Scotch and Irish demand better than the English demand is this, that by the law of 1845, by which the Scotch and Irish banks were regulated, those banks are bound to deposit a certain amount of coin in specified places for any amount of notes issued by them beyond the amount authorised under those Acts.
