It is certain that Mr. Dyson forsook his party, and became a tory ; but it does not appear that Akenside, whatever his friend might do, ever for- sook his principles; at least, his second poem on the Pleasures of Imagination is, to the full, as remarkable for a fine glow of liberty as the first.
