Indeed, wherever the ScJandinavians went, they genersily learned from their vassals all they had that was valuable, and always their Christianity, or at least their Christian form of worship and professed beliefl The Normans were the foremost and most chivalrous knights, the most skilful leaders, the most eloquent orators, and the most accomplished, or rather it may be plainly termed, the most cunning politicians of their age.
