We passed the moon, which was still void of life. Long dead satellites whooshed by our ship. There was a storm forming over a huge land mass. We snuggled and watched it for as long as we could.
The trip home was uneventful.
Mars was just as we left it—recovering, hopeful. The moment we landed, I saw those red sand dunes and I smiled.
