We were truly sorry for the poor beasts, but could not do better.
On our arrival at Bundaleer springs, we quickly attended to our horses, got some tea ourselves, and lay down on the carts to get a little much-needed rest. But we were soon disturbed. After much searching, we found a puddle of dirty rain-water. The horses bathed in it, and we were obliged to take from it the water for our tea. The atmosphere was in a peculiar state. Before us we saw what appeared to be a lake, in which the shadows of fiie trees were reflected in as perfect forms as they had in reality.
