After much searching, we found a puddle of dirty rain-water. The horses bathed in it, and we were obliged to take from it the water for our tea. The atmosphere was in a peculiar state. Before us we saw what appeared to be a lake, in which the shadows of fiie trees were reflected in as perfect forms as they had in reality.
