What reading level is Physical Geography book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
The climates of Western Europe, from Xorth Cape all the way down to the Straits of Gibraltar, are modified by the sea-winds and the influence of the Drift. (See Eecent Facts, p. 1.) Norway stretches up beyond the 70th degree of north lati- tude ; yet the westerly winds are so richly laden with warmth and moisture from the waters of the Drift that the harbor of Hammerfest, latitude 70** 40', is never frozen, even in the severest winters. But cross the Scandinavian mountains, and you encounter at... once, if it be winter, the severest cold. In this short distance from the warm waters and the west winds of the Atlantic, you find the Russian lakes and rivers, the gulfs and bays of the Baltic, closed against navigation every year from November till May. Climatic conditions similar to those which affect the western shores of Europe are found upon the western slopes of Oregon, British Columbia, and Alaska. Westerly winds prevail, and they are laden with moisture from the Pacific Ocean. The result is that here, as in Norway, open harbors and evergreen hills are found in the high latitudes of Alaska and other parts of our northwest coast.
