J. , Pipe Laid in 1890 and 1891. "Upon investigation it was found that the 48-inch steel pipe conduit No. 1 was badly corroded at a point on the outside. In- vestigation was carried still further to ascer- tain what condition the two lines were in. When the new water works were constructed some seven years ago, the town saved many thousand pounds in the cost of transport by laying down steel mains instead of cast iron.
