The wickedness of Er, the incest of Judah, the transgression of Achan, are all held up to view in this record. Nahshon, prince of the children of Judah, is first introduced to us in Numb. I. 7 — - a little more than a year after the departure of the Israel- ites from Egypt Verse 4 can only be reconciled with 1 Kings iv.
