" An appeal to the General Assembly from this action of Presbytery was taken by the prosecuting committee. Thirty-four members of Presbytery also took steps to bring the case before the Synod of New York by complaint.
The General Assembly of 1892 at Portland sus- tained the appeal of the prosecuting committee by a vote of 302 to sustain, 127 to sustain in part, 87 not to sustain ; thus making the total vote to sustain the ap- peal, 429 and 87 to sustain the action of the Presby- tery in dismissing the case.
