63. The sentinel at the post of the guard has charge of the prisoners. He will allow none to escape or to cross his post except under proper guard.
He will allow no one to communicate in any way with prisoners without permission from proper authority.
He will at once report to the corporal of the guard any suspicious noise made by prisoners.
He must be prepared to tell, whenever asked, how many prisoners are in the guard-house, and how many are at work, or elsewhere.
Whenever prisoners pass his post, returning from work, he will call the corporal of the guard, notifying him of the number of prisoners so returning.
