The next day at noontime the captain came in the cabin to record the noon observation. He again referred to the subject of the previous day, and expressed regret at such a thing taking place aboard ship. I also said that I was sorry that 1 was a witness to the affair, and he said that it did not make any difference ; that I would not be brought up in the matter. That is all, sir.
