Mr. G. T. Powell — I do not know that... I can answer that question posi- tively. I think that it is due very largely to insects. We have a very large class of insects that work not only upon the foliage, but upon the fruit. We are dealing with certain types with which we are thoroughly familiar, but there are large numbers that will puncture portions of the fruit, which will result in the impossibility of that fruit developing perfectly ; that is, if there is a check given to the surface of the fruit by an insect puncture injury, that fruit will develop an imperfect spot.
