Simply put. the spring rail frog is designed to provide a continuous smooth running surface over the entire frog in order to reduce the pounding and resultant maintenance of the turnout. When moving through the turnout side of a spring rail frog, the wheels of)en the wing rail to obtain the same effect as a rigid frog. Some of the essential elements of a spring rail frog are as follows: 1 . A full base plate to provide uniform bearing for the wing rail thus providing a smooth surface for wing rail movement.
