Hutchinson proposed the following resolu- tion : — Resolved, That as anti-slavery men, we are anxious to do all in our power to overthrow the abominable institution of slavery, and while laboring for this end, we will do all in our power to build up and sustain the present Republican party, believing as we do that through that means we can most directly and ef- fectually aid in securing freedom to the slave.
