He was a Member of the Institution from its commencement in 1847, and was for several years a member of the Council. He died at Paris on 2nd Nov. 1862 in the fortieth year of his age, having been taken ill whilst on a journey.
Francis Wrigley was born at Manchester in 1811, and was for some time actively engaged with the firm of Messrs. Sharp Roberts and Co. of that town. In 1841 he went to Russia, and was engaged in the erection of machinery at various cotton and sugar works in that country. H
...e returned to England in 1857, and during the last two years was partner in the firm of Messrs. Fothergill Wrigley and Smith, consulting engineers, Manchester. He became a Member of the Institution in 1859, and died on 2nd Aug. 1862 after an illness of only a few days' duration.

The Chairman remarked that the very prosperous condition of the Institution and the continued increase in the numher of the Members seen from the Keport of the Council were highly satisfactory and encouraging, and showed the extended utility of the Institution : he moved that the Beport be received and adopted, which was passed.
