Licensing The Board's powers in the area of licensing are found in Sections 66-1228, 66-1232, 66-1233, 66-1234 and 66-1236, R.C.M., 1947. The Board is given the licensing power to insure that only qualified nurses work in Montana. After applicants have passed the examination (or reciprocity) and paid the fee they receive the license from the Board. The Board re-issues the license annually upon receipt of the proper fee. The Board licenses approximately 4500 registered nurses and 1300 licensed p...ractical nurses. This program is funded by the license fee. Revocation of Licenses In Sections 66-1240 and 66-1241, R.C.M., 1947, the Board is given the power to revoke the licenses of individual nurses. The purpose of revocation is to maintain the high quality of nursing in Montana. The individual whose license is to be revoked has the right to a hearing before the Board and an appeal. The Board has not held revocation hearings in the last five years. There is no funding for this program. Rules and Regulations Section 66-1225, R.C.M., 1947, gives the Board the power to promulgate rules and regulations necessary to facilitate the enforcement of the act.
