Volume I. contains forty songs for soprano and tenor in the original keys and with the original texts. Volume 11. contains forty songs for contralto and bass. These are chosen both from the numerous operas which made Handel the foremost dramatic com- poser of his time, and from the great oratorios on which his fame now chiefly rests. The songs in each volume are arranged in chronological order. Those from the operas have singable EngUsh versions in addition to the original Italian texts.
