It is hoped that this report may serve as an impetus to bring about the necessary agreements for both the land use and street improvement aspects for the area. - 3 - II. PROJECT BACKGROUND New Dudley Street is part of the street network planned as part of the Campus High Urban Renewal Project and Model Cities Program in Roxbury. It extends from Columbus Avenue on the west to Washington Street and Dudley Terminal to the east providing a replacement for existing or discontinued streets, including... Dudley Street and Roxbury Street. It also frames out planned development areas and serves as a major street link between the Southwest Corridor and the Dudley Terminal area and other parts of Roxbury and North Dorchester. The project area is shown in Figure 1 Location Map. Federal/state Urban Systems funds have provided for the partial implementation of New Dudley Street and related improve- ments. At a construction cost of $1 million, New Dudley Phase I from Columbus Avenue to Roxbury Street was constructed in 1973.
