Nevertheless conduct and indeed all behaviour is shaped throughout by reference to what is wanted i. E. By appetite and desire rather than by what is attained, and for the present sufficing 1 . Thus, in an exposition of conduct, the connexion of value with purpose is the important fact though its ground in feeling is the key to its meaning, with which we here begin.
