It was the gospel herald of the Republican party. Its Republican readers looked upon it as their Bible, and so revered its name that they disapproved of the change of it to the Star. Colonel Hollowav was the military secretary of &/ m/ v Governor Morton during the civil war and was his brother-in-law. His father, David P. Holloway, w r as for many years the owner and editor of the Richmond Palladium, probably the oldest and best known of the early newspapers in Indiana, and was also a member of congress and a commissioner of patents.
