...d never read any system of natural or moral Phylosophy, yt he was unacquainted with Mathematicks, & could not pretend to answer in Logick; . . . and all yt he consented to be examined in, was Latin Classick Authors, y® Greek Testament & his profession of Physick" (College Book, iv. 167). That a student should have offered himself for examination in medicine as early as 1733 is worth notice.
