I lay there fidgeting, trying to take it in. I had thought I’d be in trouble for making up stories. Even kind Miss Roberts at school shook her head when I went rambling on, and said reprovingly, ‘Oh Elsie, you’re such a storyteller.’ I knew it drove Mum nuts.
