I know that much of what I am about to tell you may be received with incredulity ; but facts are stubborn things, and nothing is easier than for those who may doubt me to come here and look with tlieir own eyes. " That Virginia contains the precious metals every geologist and mineralogist has long been aware ; and there can be but few intelligent readers who are ignorant of the fact that enormous fortunes have been extracted from isolated places of wide reputation — such, for instance, as the London Mine, in Buckingham County, in this State.
