Then her dreams began to turn to happy ones. She saw the dirty baby pond disappear and standing in its place she thought she saw a neat gray brick build- ing, the first home for crippled children in all the land of China. She dreamed that she was taken inside this new building and that there she saw crippled Chinese children moving about on crutches in a schoolroom where a Chinese woman was teaching them to read and write.
