" In English he wrote the "Life of St. Gil...bert of Sempringham, " the only manuscript of which was destroyed by fire in 1731. He also contributed in English rhyme "The Life of St. Katherine" three manuscripts of which still remain. Certainly, in the presence of available evidence the charge of slothfulness can not be sustained, nor can it be said that literary interests were confined to the exceptional few, and that industry in this field is to be found only with such men as Wycliffe and Pecock.
