It was here where the first preaching services were held by the Methodist people and great revivals resulted in the conversion of many young men and women. It was during a revival in the Buckeye school house in 1860 that Rebecca Hunter and many oth- ers including the v/riter, were converted. Rev. D. P. Lyons was t...he preacher in charge. A Sunday School was instituted at once and continued a force in that community until the Buckeye Meth- odist church was built in 1867, when the Sunday School as well as the church services was removed there. THE SETTLEMENT EXPANDS. The little Buckeye settlement was not left long alone in its glory. It soon began to grow.
