A lovely day. We made up a party of five to visit Woochong, opposite here on the Yang-tse Kiang. We started from the bun about three o'clock in a custom- house boat. The river was quite rough but we had a very pleasant ride across it. ' We had a lovely view of Han- keou which is quite a large city. We took up our line of march for the walls of the city which are a few hundred yards from the river.
