This Table is based upon the Grand List completed in 1876, and the Enumera- tio
...n of children taken in January, 1877, and is designed to show the relative wealth of the several towns, as compared with their respective number of children of the usual school age. An examination of this Table will show, approximately, which towns are best able to provide liberally for their public schools, though this ability depends also, in part, upon the density of population, and the consequent number of schools required.
Where a district is formed of parts of two or more towns, the law now requires that all the children in such district shall be returned as from the town having jurisdiction over the district.
