and Mrs. Cochran had been put in imminent hazard, by the act of Abraham, supposed to have been done in his sleep. The parents could not but have Mt themselves censured, for not having put them on their guard, by communicating the fact, in relation to his habit, and they might — they did im- properly — deny it. All this disproves nothing, that we attempt to maintain — that the act itself was the result of the inherent malady. Most of the numerous cases to which we have adverted — and which the learned gentlemen of the faculty have stated to you of unquestioned insanity, could have been met with the same proof, independent of the act itself, which established the fact of the existence of 106 the disease.
