• WABHlN€m>N| Aogost 2, 1862. 3.46 P.1L Maj.-6bn. 6. B. McClkllak, Ton have not answered my telegram [of July 80, 8 p.m.] about the removal of your sick. Remove them as rapidly as pos...sible, and telegraph me when they will be out of your way.
Hie President wishes an answer as early as possible.
H. W. Hallbck, To which this reply was sent.
Head>Quabtebs Abut of thb Potomac, BeBKBLEY, Aug. 3, 1862. 11 PJL Your telegram of [2d] second is received. The answer [to dispatch of July 30] was sent this morning. We have about (12,500) twelve thousand Hve hundred sick, of whom perhaps (4,000) four thousand might make easy marches. We have here the means to transport (1,200) twelve hundred, and will embark to-morrow that number of the worst cases.
