The significant advantages asso- ciated with storing data on disk drives result in a dramatic increase in the processing throughput of the system, and allow the LPS to perform its data processing in time to prepare for the next transmission of data from the satellite.
These processes will occur every day throughout the life of the satellite, and will result in high-resolution images being made available to the scientific world with reduced error rates, improved efficiency, and with greatly reduced operational costs.
