Sir, In compliance with the request of the General Assembly, I have the honor to foiward a copy of their "Joint Resolution on the subject of amending the Constitution of the United States," and lo request that the same may be laind before the Legislature of Maryland.

Be it Resolved, by the General Assembly of the Slate of Indiana, That we concur in the opinion expressed in the ff)lh)\viiig Joint i^^^o- lution of the State ot Vermont approved October 22d, 1840: "-Re- ^'■solved, by the Senale and House of Representatives, that the Sena- "tors from this State be, and they are hereby instructed, and ( ur Re- "presentatives in Congress be, and they are herby requested, to use ''their best endeavours to procure such an amendment to the Consti- "tution of the United States as will restrict the eligibili'.y of the Pre- "sident of the United Stales to a single term." Beit further Resolved, That the Governor be requested to transmit a copy of tlie foregoing resolution to each of our Senators and Repre- sentatives in Congress, and to the Governor of each of the States, with the request that they lay the same before their respective Legis- latures.
