Delesse was the first to give a careful analysis of it. Its spec. Grav. Is 2-68. Chemically it contains 51-13 MELAPHYRE. 167 silica, 29-73 alumina and peroxide of iron, 473 of lime, 4073 magnesia and alkali, 3*68 water and carbonic acid.
