Penelope could do nothing but stare for several seconds. “Because…because…” she flailed, wondering how she was supposed to explain this. Her heart was breaking, her most terrifying—and exhilarating—secret had been shattered, and he thought she had the presence of mind to explain herself?
“I realize she’s quite possibly the biggest bitch…”

“The credit,” Penelope interrupted testily.
“The blame,” he continued. “Do you have any idea what will happen to you if people find out who you really are?”
The corners of her lips tightened with impatience…and irritation at being so obviously condescended to. “I’ve had over a decade to ruminate the possibility.”
His eyes narrowed. “Are you being sarcastic?”

I am ready for May 16th! This book is going to be clearly different than the series with one of the only similarities being Penelope is Lady Whistledown. But I still can’t wait for the series! As for the book, it was exactly what I expected. It’s written like the other two I read. It’s enjoyable and steamy. I also liked how Penelope came out of her shell in the book and her friendship with Lady Danbury, hopefully that happens in the series too. You don’t need to read it to enjoy the series, but it does definitely get you more excited about seeing it, even though it will be drastically different from what I’ve seen from the trailers.

I loved the ease of Colin & Penelope’s love story. Great friends turned life partners, sublime. No unnecessary angst. Colin realized what he had and didn’t waste any time.
One of my favourite things was seeing Colin so inspired by his wife’s bravery and brilliance. That seeing her so audacious with her passion gave him the courage to do the same for his.
I also loved how much Colin protected her from the judgement and wickedness of society. It was beautiful.
All in all, it was great to see a wallflower get her glory and happy ending

Umm. So, it was an ok book. In the series, Colin is my my favourite character, not so much in the book. I hated how he got angry at everyone and everything. The trope of friendship to lovers is one of my favourites and this just made me sorta hate the trope.

I will still watch the series and hope they don’t make him the same way as the book, this really wasn’t it for me.
