I purpose here to speak of the Mill-Wrights, Mill Builders, Mill owners and Manufacturers.
Thomas Sawyer, Jr. , if not the master builder, was assistant workman on the first corn mill ever built in Lancaster. It was built either by his grandfather, John Prcscott, or by his uncle, John Prescott, Jr. It was situated in what is now Clinton, 'on the site where the old cotton factory stood, during my boyhood, which was owned by Plant & Poynard.
