INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS Intermediate schools in New York City are schools in which seventh- and eighth-year pupils (grades 7A to 8B) are segregated. There are three such schools — all in Manhattan. They were organized to relieve congestion — two of them in 1905, and one in 1907; and although they at once proved their value for this purpose, none have been organized since. Meanwhile, congestion throughout the city has greatly increased. In spite of the service rendered by the intermediate schools,
