The satisfaction of the individual is, in general, a result of how well the job and all of its 25 characteristics meet his expectations. We've seen that different kinds of people have different kinds of expectations and that they can even change their expectations and their attitudes over time. For Ph. D. Chemists, there is a positive and significant correlation between the third set of attitudes, which maintains that science and busi- ness are compatible, and satisfaction.
