The two most prominent buildings on entering the harbour, are S. John's Church on Colaba Point, and S. It is situated near the end of a long tongue of land which forms the north wes- tern boundary of the entrance to the harbour, and was built as a memorial church to those officers of the Bombay army who fell in 1857 ; at least I think this was the case. * The church consists of a nave eight bays in length, with aisles and a clerestory, and a chancel of three bays, without aisles ; the tower and spire being at what should be the western end of the north aisle of the nave.
