What reading level is Sir Frank Lockwood; a Biographical Sketch book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

My state of health none care to learn, My life ia here no soul's concern, And those with whom I now converse Without a tear will tend my hearse.' I spouted these lines, melancholy though they are, light-heartedly enough, and was com- pletely taken aback by the effect they produced upon my companion. He stopped in his walk, ex- claiming several times with a strange emphasis, ' Horrible ! horrible ! horrible ! ' and twice added 1 I'm not like that/ I could only bite my lips and wish I had thought
... of some other lines.
Lockwood had a religious mind, and retained through life his faith in the Christianity his parents had taught him. The chatter in the LAST DAYS 193 magazines about such matters had never inte- rested him, and not even the symposia of eminent men, paid three guineas a sheet, about immortality had engaged his attention. He knew enough about human nature to know it was deeply wounded somewhere, and sorely stood in need of a healer. In his abhorrence of death there was nothing unmanly, nor, I dare say, unusual, but his was an intensely emotional temperament, and an imaginative nature.
